Keratin Hair Treatments: The Answer to All My Problems?
The quest for perfect hair seems like a never ending battle. Products everywhere claim that they will solve all your hair problems, but I have yet to find one that actually will (if you happen to know of one, please tell me :D.) But there is a new process that has caught my eye... keratin hair treatments.
What do keratin hair treatments do?
Keratin hair treatments involve a process that can get rid of up to 99% of frizz, straighten hair, make hair soft & shiny, and protect the hair from toxins like UV rays, smoke, & pollution.
How does this process do it?
Wow! This really does seem like the end to my hair battle? Well, keratin is what hair (and nails) are naturally made up of. When we use styling tools, expose hair to chemical processes and toxins in the environment, the keratin in your hair becomes less effective at its job (keeping your hair strong and looking healthy.)
Where can I get it and how much will it hurt my wallet?
You can get it at a salon and it should cost somewhere between $200 and $350. You can also get DIY, home treatments at a much cheaper price.
Buyer beware: look for formaldehyde-free treatments. Formaldehyde can be very dangerous and can cause reactions like headaches, watery eyes, and even difficulty in breathing.
How long will this treatment last?
Your keratin treatment should last between 3 & 5 months.
Are there any cons?
A few women have claimed that they experienced hair loss 1 to 2 weeks after treatment. Although, there is not any conclusive evidence that keratin treatments were the cause.
Tips?
Results can vary so try to find a skilled professional to carry out the treatment. Again, if you choose to do the treatment on your own be cautious about formaldehyde.

I've been hearing about this frequently lately. I think Joy Behar uses this treatment. Would it make sense that she would use it everyday? I think that's what she said on her show.
