Maritime culture had fascinated Audra of Nautilus Maritime since childhood, but it was not until her teenage years -when she first began working on the brig Lady Washington- that she became familiar with the skills of the traditional sailor known as marlingspike seamanship. She found that it was an art as rich in history as it was in variability, and was the perfect combination of decoration and practicality. She continues to work -off and on- aboard the Lady Washington, where she furthers her studies in marlingspike seamanship, and ashore she seeks to produce authentic pieces of maritime art that are both original and true to tradition. The woman behind Spunky Junky - Halsey - describes herself as a mom/workaholic by day and a crafter/mom by night who started crafting after grad school.
