Guest Post: Bye 2011, It's Been Fun

Image
Hey, I am Jess from LWIG:LOOK WHAT I GOT! . My blog is my little get-away where I express my passion for fashion and beauty through my outfit and make up looks. Just want to say a big thank you to Opal for letting me do this post. As we are officially in 2012, I thought it was best to do a round up of my outfits in 2011 and what I hope 2012 will bring. Last year, my new year's resolution was to not to be afraid, and to push myself outside my boundaries. I think I achieved this resolution in many ways because for one I started my blog. It might be sound over dramatic but my blog has really changed my life, as it has re-ignited in a passion that I thought I had lost, so it was one of the best decisions I made last year. I spent 9 months of the year applying for internships, getting rejected from many of them and finally getting one in the Summer. This was a frustrating experience, but I'm glad I stuck it out. I also made a special effort to spend more time wi...

Opal Stevens' Beauty Blogger of the Week: Vijaya Singh

Image
I'm very excited to announce this week's Beauty Blogger of the Week - Vijaya Singh! Make sure to follow her blog Fierce Nerditude .  How did you get started blogging? I always wanted to blog: I just buy so much makeup that it seemed natural. I just never really  did  it until earlier this year. I had a lot of free time, designed a layout for my site and here we are now! New Beauty Trend you like?  I'm not really a keeping-up-with-trends kind of girl, but according to Sephora's website, apparently bright colors are in? I can totally get behind that any time of the year. Favorite Fashion trend? Again, I always have a little trouble with trends, but I really like wedges, so let's go with those! Favorite Health tip?  Keep an even pace when running. Going randomly fast as you can then slowing down is just not as beneficial; I didn't know that when I first started running! What are some of your favorite beauty products? High Voltage Cosmetics Lip Whips : ...

Guest Post: Battle of the Crackle Nail Polishes

Image
By: Whitney at Elemental Styles Hey everyone! I’ve been really busy finishing up school lately but ever since Opal asked me a few weeks ago to do a guest post I've been racking my brain on what I could possibly talk about! I was going to do another “What’s in your Bag” post, but then I ran across a total of five different displays of crackle nail polishes while I was out yesterday and thought I’d do a little comparison for you all! Most recent sighting at Walgreens: Pure ICE Crackles! Icing has jumped on the bandwagon, too! Now I’m only going to compare three different brands for you today: OPI, China Glaze, and Burst Crackles, but there’s a ton of others out there with even more varieties of colors if you don’t want to pay OPI or China Glaze prices! Sally Hansen has their Crackle Overcoat polishes in 8 different colors including silver and gold, ICE has their Crackle Nail Effects in a whole bunch of colors that you can ...

Guest Post: What's In My Bag?

Image
The last "What's In My Bag?" post was extremely popular, so we're back with another one! This time we'll find out what's in  Gaelle's bag :). Make sure to check out her blog - The MakeUp Fairy ! Here she is:  What’s in my bag? I love this sort of tag! So firstly, here is my bag. I LOVE the print on it. I got it for my birthday and I have been using it every  day since. It’s from Cath Kidston and it just feeds into my current floral obsession! Now for the contents: I have the worst memory ever so I have two diaries, the big purple one is my work diary (I’m a teacher), and the smaller one is my personal stuff and on top of it, I enter most things into my phone too. Only way I can not forget things and even then I manage to double or triple book myself, mostly at work. My weight watchers folder with all my info. It helps me to stay on track and remember not to have that Mars bar! And the big pile of paper underneath ...

Guest Post: DIY Sample Storage

Image
I'm very pleased to announce that this post was written by a guest blogger - Y! Make sure to follow her blog, the XX Chronicles . She did an awesome job and I really think you'll enjoy her post :). Here she is: Hey ladies! So I'm here with a great DIY way to store samples from indie companies. Personally, I have A LOT of samples from companies, either from winning giveaways or from swapping on makeupalley or from purchasing products from these indie companies. Usually I hate using the samples because they come in little plastic baggies. I hate shoving my brushes in there because I usually end up getting too much or product gets on the handles. Ew. What you need: Pill planners. I got mine for 1.37 at CVS. Samples. Scissors A baby wipe for sanitation Instructions: 1. First off, take the label off the sample and save it. You'll need it later.  2. Next, tap all the product to a corner of the baggie. Then snip the corne...
