Luminaze

Image
Something I, and a lot of other people deal with, is dark spots due to acne and aging, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone. I just discovered Luminaze which is a natural enzyme that breaks down melanin to help fade dark spots and even out your skin tone in just 7 days. In clinical studies it has been proven to work better and faster than the leading prescription ingredient, and it's actually gentle enough to use every day.  The best part is that it does all of this without creating white patches or splotchyness. That's something that's always scared me about products that claim to even out skin tone, but Luminaze is gentle and effective. Sounds great to me:)! Has anyone tried this product?

Pippa Middleton: A Fashion Icon?

Image
Pippa Middleton wowed us during The Royal Wedding in her Alexander McQueen gown and she has only continued to leave us in awe. A lot of women have even begun to consider her a style icon. Personally, I think she has great taste and I'm constantly amazed by her fashion choices. Take a look at just a few of her outfits from the past year: She looks amazing in that tan Whistles jacket and tiered silk dress from French Connection. Even when she's wearing a casual  button down shirt  she looks stunning! I really like the design on her jeans and the pops of red really add interest to the outfit.   I really love how she paired the jean jacket with a simple white dress to make the outfit more interesting.

Fashion Trends For Fall 2011

Image
Plaid... in a jacket! Reminds me of the kind of shirts you'd get from fieldmaster clothing . Although the colors are a bit over the top - but this is the runway, it's supposed to be shocking. I think a more wearable look for everyday life would be a plaid pea coat like the one pictured below with jeans and Uggs.  Graphic tees under leather or bomber jackets are really cute too! Not too sure about Ashley's choice of pants or shoes, but the top of the outfit is great. Any kind of graphic tee will do. The more interesting and unique, the better! You can see the swag with the guinness beer price  tag  of shirts.  Jaime King looks amazing here and I'm in love with her shoes! I really like how she made a masculine looking shoe look very feminine. They look like these harris shoes . I think you could definitely use this type of shoe to as a foundation for some really great fall outfits.

GOSH Cosmetics Video Review

Image
GOSH 581 Orange Drops Nail Polish: I really love the color of this nail polish :D It has an average dry time and I needed  4 coats. GOSH Nail Glitter: 10 different shades are available (really pretty colors!)  Just apply a base coat of polish, then dip your nail in the small jar of glitter before the polish dries up, and brush off any excess glitter.  Doesn't rub off too much during the day.

Ceramic vs Tourmaline Flat Irons

Image
Picking out a flat iron used to be easy, but as technology gets more advanced and we've begun to see names like ceramic or titanium flat iron it's not surprising that a lot of women are raising an eyebrow. It sounds all nice and fancy schmancy, but seriously, what the heck does it even mean? And is it really worth the extra cash?! I did a little research to figure it out. Ceramic irons have ceramic plates and provide even heating making it less damaging than the metals traditionally used in flat irons. Ceramic irons release negative ions which when heated can actually help seal the cuticle and give the hair a healthy looking shine.  Titanium irons have a very smooth surface and keep the temperature of the flat iron stable and even throughout. Titanium releases even more negative ions than ceramic flat irons and as a result the hair will be shinier. Although any kind of heat styling can cause damage, I've found that ceramic and titanium flat irons are defini

Dr. Patrica Farris on Adult Acne: Why It Occurs, How To Treat It

Image
Is adult acne any different than the acne you would get as a teenager? Acne is different in adults. It is not in the t-zone but instead tends to be around the jawline or hairline...so a more peripheral pattern. The skin is not oily in adults so it is hard to treat adult patients with the same medications we use in teens since these meds tend to dry the skin. Is adult acne more common in men or women? Adult acne is more common in women than men. Men get acne as teens and then in general grow out of it. Women also have acne as teens but then some continue to have it as adults. Women have so many hormonal fluctuations during their life that causes acne. They get acne with their periods, during pregnancy or after pregnancy and even at menopause. Women also seem to be very susceptible to stress induced acne which of course is also caused by hormones. How is adult acne treated? I see a lot of women who are very frustrated with adult acne who complain of getting cyst

Dr. Sue Ann Wee on Acne Scarring, Types of Acne Scars, and Treatment Options

Image
Dr. Sue Ann Wee is Board Certified Dermatologist with expertise in laser surgery, cosmetic, and medical dermatology. I got the opportunity to ask her a few questions about acne scarring and the treatment options that are available for those suffering from acne scarring.  Why does acne scarring occur? When acne occurs, it is accompanied by an inflammatory response which injures the skin. This injured area of skin then undergoes wound repair in which the body produces scar tissue (collagen) to heal the wound. Although, the body replaces injured tissue with the same type of tissue (collagen) that is present in normal tissue, scar tissue lays down collagen in a  different and inferior manner compared to normal tissue collagen. This different arrangement of collagen in the body’s healing  process is the key feature of scar formation. What are the different types of acne scars? There are 5 main types of acne scars: rolling, box-car, ice-pick, hypertrophic, and keloid. R

Coleen Butterflies Fragrance Review

Image
"Coleen Rooney, fashion and style icon of a generation and one of the UK's most photographed women has launched the long awaited premium fragrance, Coleen Butterflies.  The bottle is fashioned from heavyweight sheer pink glass, adorned with a cascade of gold butterflies symbolizing femininity. This beautiful fragrance is said to truly reflect the young woman Coleen has grown to become.  A sparkling burst of citrus, sultry rose and hibiscus opens the fragrance, melting the senses with subtle hints of black pepper, nutmeg and vanilla flower, tumbling into a fall of creamy cedar and rose wood with a subtle hint of amber and tonka bean; the sumptuous scent lingers to leave an indelible impression.  Coleen who has been involved in every aspect of the product is justifiably proud of the finished article "I love the fragrance which is both feminine an alluring. The bottle will look fabulous on anyone's dressing table and my favorite butterflies add that s

Dr. Leslie Baumann on Acne Causes, Myths, and Treatment Mistakes

Image
Dr. Leslie Baumann is an internationally renowned board-certified dermatologist, New York Times best-selling author, media personality and lecturer, and CEO of Baumann Cosmetic & Research Institute in Miami, Florida. I got the opportunity to ask her a few questions about acne and her skin typing system.  What causes acne? Increased Oil Production, Clogged pores and Bacteria. Oil causes dead skin cells to stick together which creates a clogged pore . If bacteria is present it can cause that clogged pore to inflame with pus. What are some acne myths or common misconceptions people have about acne? 1. Only teenagers get acne  2. Sun Exposure Helps Acne ( it’s actually the opposite )  3. Putting toothpaste on a pimple dries it up – NOT TRUE 4. Popping pimples make them heal faster – popping pimples can cause scarring and further inflammation.  What are some common mistakes that people make when trying to treat their acne? They over exfoliate. If you are using
