Opal Stevens' Beauty Blogger of the Week: Kia Simpson

Image
I'm very excited to announce this week's "Beauty Blogger of the Week" - the artistically talented and beautiful Kia!  I love her blog and she illustrates all the pictures of beauty products on her blog using watercolors and cosmetics. It's definitely one of the coolest and most unique blogs I've seen and you should definitely check it out -  MAKE me UP .  How did you get started blogging?  I think like most bloggers, I loved reading blogs. There are so many good ones out there & Not long after I decided I would like to make my own. I wasn't 100% sure what I would blog about, but I knew it would be beauty related. Intertwining Art into my blog was completely unplanned, but I think if you have a passion for something, blog about it!  Favorite Hair Tip or Product?  Because I dye my hair, a good conditioner to keep it looking healthy is really important, but I don't think I have a favourite product/brand. I do like to use Talcum Powd

Guest Review: Dry Fast And Mega Last Polishes From Wet n Wild

Image
2 teal of fortunes, 1 SaGreena the Teenage Witch, 1 Disturbia (Mega Last), 1 Blue Wants to Be A Millionaire, 1 Saved by the Blue, 2 Teal Or No Teals. Hey girls! So Friday I got a shipment from Wet n Wild, that contained 8 nail polishes (shown above). Yes, I got the polishes for free, for review, no that does not taint my review what so ever. My reviews are my honest opinion and I'd never change that because of a free product. So I'm going to start with the Fast Dry polishes, they sent me 7 of them, and what I noticed as soon as I put them on was that they did not smell. Maybe it's just me, but I've noticed with some fast dry nail polishes from other companies, that they were just repulsive! With the Fast Dry polishes, they have no nasty odor, and the application is flawless, the brush gives you a very smooth coat. I couldn't believe the pigmentation too, only one maybe two coats gives you amazing vibrant color. Wet n Wild also sent me one Mega L

July Favorites

Image
Skin care products were a big part of my July favorites because I had a really bad breakout this month. I pretty much spent any extra cash on skin products so I could clear up my skin. With these products I was able to almost entirely get rid of my breakout in about a week.  Clean & Clear Astrigent: I love this stuff! I had a really bad breakout on my forehead and on my nose a few weeks ago and this really helped. I would only recommend that you use this if you have oily skin. Even then I would start out with once a day because it can be really drying. Over the first few weeks you can work your way up to 2 or 3 applications a day. I used to have to use 2-3 oil blotting sheets a day and now I only have to use 1 (if that). The best part - it's only about $4 and should last you a month or two. Active Ingredients: Salicylic Acid 2.0% Neutrogena SkinClearing Oil-Free Makeup: This makeup is really great for acne-prone skin. It's hypoallergenic so it wo

Opal Stevens' Beauty Blogger of the Week: Hannah

Image
I'm very excited to announce this week's "Beauty Blogger of the Week" - the lovely Hannah!  She has a lot of great posts on a wide range of beauty, fashion and health related posts. Everyone should definitely check out her blog Flawed Excellence .  How did you get started blogging?  I'm always on youtube, I love  the  beauty gurus on there and I noticed quite a lot mentioned their blogs, so I visited a few and liked what I saw so I thought, "Hey why can't I do that?". So I did, and I'm really enjoying it. Favorite Hair Tip or Product?  One hair product that I swear by is  the  Aussie Three Minute Miracle. I use it once every 1-2 weeks and it leaves my hair so soft! And it's also part  of  Aussies heat  defense  range, so win-win! Beauty trend you love?  At  the  moment, I'm really liking neutral make up but with a really bright lip, like a red or candy pink. Favorite fashion trend?  I'm really loving  t

Guest Post: Tips For Treating Oily, Acne-Prone Skin

Image
How To Treat Oily Skin One of the main causes of acne is excessive oil on the surface of the skin. If not washed away, oil can clog pores and lead to acne breakouts. The causes of oily skin can be dietary, hormonal, or genetic. Here are a few things your should know about treating this skin type: Causes of Oily Skin Believe it or not, the oil on your skin actually serves a purpose. It keeps the skin naturally healthy and moisturized. Those that a have more oil will have fewer wrinkles later on in life, and suffer less effects of aging on the dermis. Removing excess oil is important, but harsh cleaners can overly dry the skin and make it look leathery or prematurely aged. Oily skin has its roots in several different causes. It can result from the consumption of too many fried foods, from excessive hormones like testosterone, or genetics. Even the weather has an effect it. Some people have reported excess oil and breakouts in the winter months. In this case the skin's oi
