Naturally Keepin' That Skin Healthy!

Skin health is a topic that hits home with many women. By keeping your skin healthy you can slow down and sometimes even partly reverse the aging process. There are lots of products out that there that say that they can give you that youthful glow you're looking for, but there are also many natural ways to keep your skin healthy.

Get Your Vitamins!

The intake of certain vitamins like A, C, D, & E have been shown to have positive effects on the health of the skin.
  • Vitamin A helps in the overall health, functioning, and repairing of skin cells. This vitamin can even prevent cancer and improve the skin's elasticity. You can even get topical creams with retinoic acid (Retin-A(R)) to get the most out of this super vitamin.
  • Vitamin C helps repair the skin and can even speed up skin repair. This vitamin can be a huge component in fighting the aging process by keeping the skin healthy and firm.
  • Vitamin D plays a big role in skin metabolism and growth. This vitamin is commonly used to treat skin problems like psoriasis and itching and flaking of the skin. The best source of vitamin D is the sun (but in limited amounts.)
  • Vitamin E, like vitamin A, helps protect the skin from the sun and helps repair damage done to the skin. Topical treatments can even help repair severe burns and stretch marks.
Water is Sooooooo Important!!!

Your body is 50 - 70% water so it's very important to keep yourself hydrated. Water is a huge part of what keeps your hair and skin healthy. Water keeps cells healthy, detoxifies the body, regulates body temperature, and helps with digestion.

So, how much water should you drink? We typically hear 8 cups a day. A more accurate way to find out how much water you should drink would be to divide your weight in half and drink at least that amount in ounces everyday. For example, if you weighed 150 lbs you should be drinking at least 75 ounces of water everyday. If you exercise you should probably drink two more cups a day on top of that number.
